This photo was taken in Belle Glade (vicinity), Florida on January 1939 by Marion Post Wolcott titled "A lunch room." [Sign: "White & Colored Served."] This photo was taken out doors with natural light in a rural area in the afternoon. There is one caucassion woman who looks to be in her late 20's early 30's wearing a blouse and long skirt with short hair. She catches my eye first. There is a small lunch room that might be near a lake or some kind of body of water. The tone is light and positive.

I love this picture because of the sign. It say they serve colored and white. This is amazing espically for this period of time. I do wonder if there is seperate sides for whites and African-Americans.

I would ask the photographer if he knew the owner of this place and if she had ever been there before and seen the inside of the lunch room.
